The BEST method of helping stray mature cats is a program called ‘TNVR’ TRAP NEUTER VACCINATE RELEASE
Adult cats not showing an innate desire for human contact DO NOT adjust well to living indoors and cohabitation with humans. They hide and have fear for the remainder of life.
Shelters are full of mature cats that will never be adopted (too many cute kittens available instead). These cats will be caged and depressed until they die or are euthanized
Folks- you need to do your homework before making recommendations to bring animals to ANY shelter- including Peggy Adams.
Many local “NO-KILL” shelters bring animals to animal control for the euthanizing. They can then keep their “no-kill” status! You are condemning animals to death with willy-nilly advice.
Never bring mature cats, particularly, to ANY shelter
Rescue groups are instead, a better option ALWAYS for any type of animal. There is a rescue group for all types of animals – even rats and mice, rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, reptiles and amphibians and birds
TNVR is the KINDEST and most ETHICAL solution for adult stray cats!
NEUTER YOUR PETS & DONT BE A BACKYARD BREEDER
Don’t contribute to the pet overpopulation issue yielding millions of animals euthanized yearly in the US. Persuade folks wanting pets to adopt vs purchasing from breeders. Never buy pets from pet stores & end mill-style breeding.
Breeding should only occur with professionals knowing how to better a breed, and how to screen and find suitable homes for offspring. Having a “nice dog” doesn’t warrant breeding it.
