Q: my dog Tuff, that you are aiding through raw diet and other natural health choices, and suffers from a neurological deficit, hasn’t received vaccines in a few years. Should I be vaccinating him? I’m particularly referring to the rabies vaccine, required by law.
A:
At Tuff’s age, & w years of vaccines in his young life, he’ll have a T-cell response to all of these diseases and does not require vaccinations every year of his life.

Rabies vaccines have a legal component, as well as a health component. It is required by law, that dogs maintain antibodies against rabies virus.
Any legal office will accept a rabies blood work titer, in lieu of a vaccine certificate or rabies tag.
If you need “proof of rabies” to travel w tuff, get the blood titer when you visit the vet.

You and I stop receiving vaccines by our teens or Pre-teens and live 90-100 years. Our childhood vaccines, for the most part, last a lifetime. The immune system stores the info, to be activated upon exposure. Not true with all diseases/vaccines. Tetanus is an example. But homeo ledum is effective for treating a tetanus exposure.
Vaccines are ongoing money makers for vets and pharmaceutical companies. Vaccines do have GREAT benefits. Vaccines have rid the population of many epidemic and endemic diseases.
But, vaccinating actually comes w risks. One risk is heavy metal toxicity. Tuff, already having neuro symptoms, should stay away from heavy metals.
Another complication for small pets, ie: cats & dogs, is that vaccines are cultured in chick embryos. An unfortunate side effect for our cats and dogs is a resulting allergy to chicken. Masses of our cats and dogs are allergic to chicken, yet it’s the #1 meat ingredient in processed foods. So when these animals are fed processed foods utilizing chicken, they’re often sick for years, even a lifetime. They’re often violently ill, after eating the first meal, post receiving a vaccine. And yet, ate often vaccinated still, every year. This magnifies the problem over time.
As a rule, I vaccinate my animals up to the age of 2 years, then stop. Occasionally, if I move my animals from the north to the south, for example, I’ll vaccinate 45 and 30 days prior to moving. I research diseases prevalent in my new locale and vaccinate for these, Or if I’ll be taking an old horse on a 400 rider, horse trail, I may vaccinate prior. When in mass exposure to horses of unknown health and vaccine history, it makes sense often, to get the little “insurance” of vaccinating prior.
Good health, supported with good natural choices, & avoiding the multitude of toxic choices, makes the body naturally resilient. This is the optimum health plan when choosing to not vaccinate or to stop vaccinating.
A raw diet is a key component of good choice making. Utilizing different foods that feed each organ and system, is a critical part of the raw diet choice.
Even for my horse, chickens, and goats, when I was on the farm, I mixed my own grain blend, vs feeding processed nuggets. All were supplemented w daily health herbs. Chickens never got processed foods, as they’re ALL also pre-medicated. Fresh fruits and veggies, were an important part of their supplementation, as well as daily herbs. Free grazing of plants and insects daily, was also part of their good-health-plan.
For my frogs, toads and lizard, I netted ( caught ) live wild bugs, with a diverse protein selection, vs captive bred, and nutritionally devoid crickets.
Remember for Tuff’s ongoing support, to follow the guidelines in *JILL SILVERS ULTIMATE CAT AND DOG DIET*
Happy trails to you and Tuff.
