Did you know…?:
Fireworks represent mock-bombs. Recall the line in our national anthem:
“🎵…bombs bursting in air and our flag was still there…🎵”
So on Independence Day we began sending up fireworks or mock-bombs behind an American flag. Do you see any flag in front of any fireworks today? NO!!
So it’s become about celebrating the bomb and not celebrating the flag at all!!
Why on this day don’t we all quietly raise a flag and celebrate peace (peace and quiet) that was achieved through our perseverance? This should be a quiet day (with no background noise emulating bombings!) and a day of honoring our flag.
While I am viewing beautiful displays from every side of my house & living on a lake where they’re especially pretty in the backyard, all of my clients are calling me w dogs freaking out. A black lab has bolted and he is impossible to see outdoors at nigh. He’s also now running w no collar n tags. I put my boarding dog on Valerian Root and he’s cool as a cucumber. He was freaking out in rain storms that had no thunder initially. We put a stop to that as it rains a lot in FL! He’s on double doses for 3 days leading up to tonight’s expected event.
No dog should be outdoors tonight. But if they are I recommend 2 tight collars with 2 secure leashes and held by 2 different people. A panicked dog can get out of one set of gear quickly but handlers can react before he/she gets out of 2 sets. Please just keep o your dogs at home instead and secured indoors. If they have fear, next year prepare with Valerian Root, Melatonin, Tryptophan or other safe and natural relaxation aid.
Otherwise celebrate responsibly and enjoy the holiday.
