On Saturday April 13th, I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful fundraiser for Blessed Paws Dog Rescue. The fundraiser was hosted by Stacy Rybak, who did a phenomenal job!

Stacy had adopted her Puerto Rican dog Jaco, through Blessed Paws Dog Rescue. This day, April 13th of last year, Jaco came into her home. She’d been searching for the right dog to bring into her home, and waited for Jaco to come state-side from Puerto Rico. Jaco coming into Stacy’s life, spurred her continued involvement with Blessed Paws Dog Rescue. It’s funny how a dog can change your life!

The event on Saturday, was Stacy’s celebration of Jaco’s  “1yr birthday,” or anniversary. Stacy had the lovely sentiment of using the occasion, to pay forward her gratitude, by hosting the fundraiser for Blessed Paws Dog Rescue. Starting from this noble place, Stacy put together a great event.

The event held a a raffle, with fantastic donated prizes. Most of the prizes were dog beds filled with dog toys and dog food plus dog supplies, from various companies. I was delighted to see that winners of raffles, either donated their prize to Blessed Paws Dog Rescue, or donated them back for another raffle.

I offered fundraising toenail trims, and coupons for Jills Whole Pet Solutions’ services.  The requested  donation for toenail trims was $5.  A few folks gave $5 donations. But, most folks offered $20 donation. Some good cash was raised, from toenail trims, raffle sales, and hand-over donations.

Chewy.com offered both raffle donations, as well as party gifts for all who attended. The cloth and rope frisbee, has been greatly appreciated by my boarding dogs! Thank-you Chewy.com !

The event was held at Mathews Brewing Company in downtown Lake Worth, FL. Alongside offering their facilities, they also purchased the cake, and spread the word by posting an invitation on their social media. Mathews Brewing Co also offered a free appetizer coupon as a party gift as well. I was very impressed with Mathews Brewing Co’s generosity. Aside from the “good feeling” I was left with regarding Mathews Brewing Co, this was a lovely establishment, that I plan to return to. Great people… Great vibe.

I unexpectedly trained a rescue dog while at the event. It was fun for others to watch. Onlookers witnessed this small white female dog, Lulu,  aggressing at first, to all of the other dogs, and then being isolated. At the end of 2hrs, she was sitting next to other leashed dogs, walking passed dogs like a lady with decorum, and even found a playmate in Jaco!  This was a surprise happy moment for me, Lulu, Lulu’s owner, and all that watched!

Blessed Paws Dog Rescue brought out a handful of dogs, that were up for adoption. Volunteers were there, handling each dog. A young Yorkshire Terrier found her forever home at the event. Every effort is always considered a success, when even 1 dog finds their home!

But, this event was a success on many fronts. Funds were successfully raised through the fundraising efforts. A Yorkshire Terrier got into her new forever home. Young Lulu learned how to be with her own kind, vs aggressing. Many dogs went home with short toenails. But I attribute the biggest success factor, as being in the company of FANTASTIC people both contributing and participating at this event.…Amazing generosity! Starting with Stacy’s lovely sentiment in hosting the event in honor of her beloved Jaco, to the generosity of Mathews Brewing Co, and companies like Chewy.com that donated prizes and party gifts, to the giving-spirits of the participants, this event was just a “make you feel warm-n-fuzzy” kind of day!

Thank-you Stacy Rybak, for the personalized invitation to contribute to this fundraising event! Id be happy to contribute again and again, to any future event that you host. Great job, fun day, and congratulations on running such a stellar event.

Thank-you to all of the participants. contributors and volunteers! Our combined efforts yielded a dog finding a home, and a great fundraising success!

And, a warm thank-you to Blessed Paws Dog Rescue, for your ongoing fight to end homelessness for dogs.
