• 14 weekly meals • • diet balanced weekly vs daily • •comprised of a meat (one animal protein per meal veggie/ berry : • taw marrow bones 3x weekly ( with or without meat still attached. * see below) re: My Tips)
• Veggies/ berries/ fruit can be given individually or in combo.
• Include root veggies. Include leafy veggies.
VEGGIRS. (select by color .Include leafy greens, & root veggies in the mix / rotation to be well rounded).
Orange. Carrots / pumpkin / squashes / yams / sweet potato, peppers …
Purple ;Cauliflower, carrots/ cabbage, kale, sweet potatoes, asparagus, Brussels, peppers …;
Yellow Pumpkin, squash, peppers, cauliflower, beets …
White : Cauliflower, parsnips, radish, turnip , garlic, mushrooms;…
Red: Beets, radish, peppers, red leaf lettuce, radicchio, rhubarb …
Green : Green beans, asparagus, broccoli , cucumber, asparagus, okra,, leafy greens (always change your leafy green for net mix. There are do many and thru all do something different and fabulous)
MEATS
• 90% of diet should be muscle meats: beef, poultry, pork. goat, lamb, bison, venison, rabbit ..…
•Include 3 fish meals and limit fish to 3xs weekly: salmon, sardine, anchovies, herring, trout
• Include 3 organ meat meals weekly. Livers, hearts, kidneys. (You can vary the animal from which these organs are harvested )
* do not include entrails on the most part. Tripe (intestines) were indicated for tri but it’s a poor protein source for the average dog. The other entrails organs can have toxic material and shouldn’t be fed. uncleaned tripe (the food digest materiel found inside can also contain toxic material)
My tips:
I make every breakfast a red meat meal and rotate the above animal protein I then add veggie / berries n herbs
Of the 7 remaining afternoon meals along w a veggie on rotation:
•3 fish on rotation
•3 organ meats on rotation
• 2nd meal daily I alternate (Either poultry, pork/ ham or some meat on a raw bone like a tail, rib, hock…etc (rabbit/ goat/ venison/ pig/ ox/ beef…). Using raw bones w meat still attached can satisfy both a 2nd feeding and 3 weekly raw bone requirements That’s easier when feeding small dogs/ cats than large dogs. A meaty hock or two of the other appropriate bones could satisfy as a meal for a large dog. .
2nd meal of the day fed by 5 pm & smaller in comparison to breakfast to ensure all digestion complete before bedtime. This way sleeping can be for cellular repair/ fighting disease vs attempting to digest foods .
No grains or dairy (outside of non flavored yogurt or cottage cheese)
No white potatoes, peas or corn. Avoid legumes particularly soy
Grasses are ok for dogs to eat when outside. Grasses give them both a laxative property and induce vomiting when needed.
Dogs that eat dirt need minerals.
Dogs that eat sticks need fiber.
Veggie variety can resolve both needs.
